I'm Married!

There aren't enough words to describe the overwhelming sense of love and happiness that both John and I felt on our wedding day. We both couldn't have asked for a more special day and so much of that came from all the people who were there to share in it with us. We feel so blessed and grateful.

I'll definitely be sure to spill all the details when we return from Hawaii :)
Have to get back to packing now!

It's Time

I officially can't sleep. I've been up the past two days in the middle of the night and just lay there praying to go back to sleep. Even as I type this it's 7 AM. Come on, who's up this early?

I can't believe I'm getting married tomorrow! I'm so excited and nervous that I just have all this energy.  I was surfing the web and happened to look at my horoscope for tomorrow on Yahoo.
It says, "It's a good day to present yourself at your very best- you shouldn't have any slip-ups or accidental confessions to worry about! Your self-control and poise are peaking and people should be impressed." Boy do I hope that's true!

I'll be sure to update everyone on the BIG DAY this Monday before we leave for Hawaii :)

Ready or Not

Everything has been dropped off to Peddler's Village so I am officially less stressed but a little nervous. I just can't believe how many days I thought the wedding would never come and now we are less than a week away. Nuts!
I'm really looking forward to the rehearsal dinner and the small group of family and friends who we will be able to visit with before the big day. After several hours shopping and driving John crazy, I did end up getting my dress last week. Here it is below but I bought it in navy (a very popular spring color it seems).

Family will begin to pour in today and throughout the week. I'm anxious to wrap up all the work stuff and be ready for them. Lord knows I still have cleaning to do at home!
On another note, I would like to congratulate my Matron of Honor, Erin, who was accepted into a PhD program at Michigan State last week. I couldn't be more proud and excited for her! See you soon E :)

Do Me a Favor

This afternoon John and I have to drop off all the stuff to Peddler's Village that will be used in the wedding reception. Let me just tell you, it's going to fill his SUV. I know once it's all up there I'll feel a bit of a stress release as what's done will be done at that point.
The last thing I had to do was the favor bags so my cousin Lauren came over early to graciously help me complete the task. You'll note the pink hang tags from a Jan. post were used here...

Rain, Rain, Go Away

I have been a little frazzled about the weather. The 10-day forecast shows LOTS of rain leading up to the wedding. I know things can change but it's just not what I needed to see right now.
So, as a preemptive thing I went and purchased a statue of Mary (holding baby Jesus for extra oomph). My cousin told me if you put her in your window it will bring good weather. I figured this couldn't hurt and I'm a pretty spiritual person so hopefully my prayers will be answered.
Note: Lauren just mentioned that I shouldn't 'overuse' the statue and to only put it out a few days before the wedding. Woops!

Name Recognition

I read about this guy in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Sunday...

His name is Lang Lang

Uh-huh.

I Live Through Matt Sometimes

On Friday night I got a text message from Matt who was on the red carpet with Giuliani for the premiere of the new movie 'Leatherheads'. He was letting me know that he was standing next to my favorite, John Krasinski from 'The Office'. I of course freaked with excitement and texted Matt back that my John and I love 'The Office' so much that we are being announced at the wedding reception to the show's theme song. I didn't hear from Matt for a few hours until he called to tell me that he mentioned this information to Giuliani who then told John Krasinski during their interview! Matt said he smiled and said that was 'crazy'. I think that is just about the coolest thing that has happened in recent times.
My brother also said John Krasinski was not only extremely tall but very nice for all you additional fans out there.

Claustrophobia 101

In an attempt to go from pasty white to not so pasty white on my wedding day, I decided to give tanning another whirl. I say 'another' because about 5 years ago I went into a stand up tanning bed when all my friends were raving about it. A few seconds in I proceeded to hyperventilate and exit the moment the UV lights came on and I was told that if I opened my eyes I'd burn my retinas. So this time I opted for the spray tan. I thought this might be a better way of tanning without the cramped booth. Wrong! First off there were so many steps and rules to this method of tanning and I got uneasy about that, the girl seemed uneasy for me and when I went into the room there was of course a tiny booth for me to get into. I'm supposed to stand there with my eyes closed for a minute while this machine sprays me. Well, I got in, took a deep breath, closed my eyes and panicked. I felt nervous and I couldn't breathe well with the nose plugs they gave me so I accidentally opened my mouth, tasted spray and bolted. Yep, that's right. I'm mystic tanned on my front up to about my chest and that's it.
The lady told me I have a free session coming and I told her to keep it. I won't be back. I tried this twice and it's not for me. I believe I'll invest in Jergens Natural Glow lotion instead and hope for the best.

Help Me Obi-Wan

Yesterday we took a breather from wedding madness and went down to the Franklin Institute with 3 other couples to see the Star Wars Exhibit. They had a ton of props, models and costumes from the movies and described how all the scientific aspects can be used in real life, as well as how they came up with some of the design elements and concepts. Since I grew up a Star Wars fan, I thought it was all pretty cool, though a bit on the short side. Definitely glad we went on a Sunday and took advantage of the cheaper admission.

Here are a few pics from the day...

Han Solo and Chewbacca costumes. I had such a crush on Han Solo as a little girl!

Princess Leah with R2...

Luke's fake hand from Empire Strikes Back...

John and I near a model of the Millenium Falcon...

Me with the young Anakin Skywalker. Note that we are similar in height...

John and his buddy Jeff with Darth Vader...

The Name Game

Today John and I went down to the Montgomery County Courthouse and got our marriage license. It was pretty quick but exciting nontheless. I did find it hilarious how many times the woman asked us if we brought 'cash'. YES lady! It was more important then swearing on the Bible.
The part that took the longest was when she rattled off all the things I have to do and people I'll have to contact in order to officially change my last name. I'm definitely a little sad to lose my current one which I believe goes perfectly with my first (hello, Jackie Jacobi) but at the same time have been mentally preparing for the change. And before you ask, I'm not a hyphenator.
I did love ordering our thank you cards and it will be fun to be called a Mrs. I think it makes me sound more adult. And hey, I could have been stuck with something way worse!

Pump You Up

Yesterday afternoon when I got home from work I was greeted with a package from my brother Matt. I was both surprised and happy as who doesn't love unexpected gifts!

Then I opened it to find this...

It's called "Buff Brides...Countdown to Gown" and is a workout video. Do you think he is trying to tell me something?

I did laugh as this probably would have been helpful 6 months ago but I guess better late than never. I should get crackin' ASAP!

People Person

Today is the last day for us to receive the RSVP cards for the wedding before calls have to be made to the ones still left out there. I have to tell you that we are having a MUCH smaller wedding then I had originally anticipated (give or take 45 guests). This is nice as it gives us more of a chance to spend time with the people who will be there and saves money (which makes John giddy) but I'm also a little surprised about it. I certainly would have made different decisions knowing this ahead of time. Still, you can't plan for things like this and I tend to be a wacky over-planner so that is probably where most of my weird thoughts come from.

I'd like to also point out that we have to move on to the seating chart phase which I am NOT looking forward to in the least. The last time John and I made an attempt at this we had a severe disagreement. Hopefully now that there aren't as many 'what-if's' it will go smoother. At least it is one of the last real stresses so it's all downhill from there. Yeah!
