Ahoy!

Last night John went to a Phillies game with his co-workers but his mom still came over and she and I went to dinner then over to his grandparents house for coffee. We do this almost every Wed. night. I'm very grateful that he has such an awesome family who has definitely welcomed me into the mix. I start to really miss my own grandmother though, as John's reminds me so much of her. Both very quick witted!

Matt and I chatted for a long time last night also. He is so busy working as Giuliani DePandi's assistant (E! News host) that it's rare we talk for an extended period of time. I love when he tells me what she says in regards to advice about things in his life, as it's almost always what I would say. At least I know he is in good hands! They went to Barney's together yesterday and picked out Christian Louboutin heels for her wedding day in Sept. I think I might get mine at David's Bridal ;) Ah the life he leads... If I could buy any C.L. shoes at Barney's, I'd pick these. Right now I love wedges and navy blue. My wardrobe is starting to look like something you'd find in a sailor's closet.

Hot Time in the City

Yesterday I felt as though I might suffocate by way of humidity. Today is even worse. I think we have been pretty lucky so far this summer to not have had it too bad weather wise, but it still stinks.

Our dog definitely agrees with me. Normally when I say to him "Duke, wanna go outside?" he jumps up, runs to the back door and sits down while I put his leash on, but yesterday he didn't even move an inch. Kinda cracks me up like he thinks I'm inconveniencing him trying to get him to leave the A/C and use the bathroom.

One last thing, if anyone knows a good product to stop my continual mosquito bite itching, I'd greatly appreciate the advice. I can't stop those little buggers from hunting me down and i've tried everything!

Today I had one of my window customers tell my boss that she can't read my handwriting. Apparently this really bothers her. I have to try to be more legible when writing out the contracts. I can just see my mom telling me the same thing!

Now, I wanted to post some wedding related fair for those of you that are interested. We are approaching the nine month mark and though it still seems far away, it is approaching very quickly in my mind. Luckily, so much is already planned in my head. Just waiting until Sept. hits to start plunking down deposits and meeting with vendors.

Below are pics of the bridesmaid dress I found with my cousin Olivia. She looked absolutely gorgeous in every one but we finally decided on this number. My colors are the very trendy chocolate brown and pink, so the dress will be in all chocolate brown. I notice that using the word "chocolate" in front of brown makes it sound prettier.

I'll probably be spending the next several months trying to pick out the perfect song for us to have our first dance to. I've already begun compiling a playlist on my I-Pod for John to listen to and help me choose. To me music is one of the most important aspects to the day. We went to a wedding in late May and the band played ONLY Motown tunes. Seriously. This really bothered John which you know means I'll definitely put one on the playlist just to throw him off ;) Any suggestions?

The Weekend

For John's big birthday this year, I decided to throw a little get together on Saturday. It was really fun and I'm glad all of our family and friends could make it. A lot of people haven't had a chance to see our house yet, though they have heard about all the projects in detail whenever they ask what John and I have done over any weekend.

Some pics above...

On Sunday we had a wonderful summer day. It really is nice to be able to do things outside. We slept in and then took a drive into Philadelphia to ride our bikes around Kelly Drive. It is near the Art Museum. We actually rode for 6 miles and though I sometimes want to kill John for pushing me to do it, I'm glad to be exercising. Afterward we checked out some open houses in the Fairmount Park and East Falls areas. We often think of moving into the city after we get married, so it's always nice to see what we could afford and the differences in space, etc. Then it was back to the house and dinner at our favorite neighborhood pizza joint, Tonelli's.

First time for everything

Hello everyone!

This is my first attempt at blogging. I'm a bit nervous about it as I haven't shared my writing or thoughts with many of you in awhile, but what the heck, let's give it a go!

I'll be regularly posting random things about life here in PA as a way of keeping in touch with my beloved friends and family that are so far away from me.

Hope you enjoy :)

Love,

Jackie

P.S. Special thanks for my friend in DC, Adrienne, for the encouragement!
