The Power of Dog

Sometimes I wonder what kind of mother I will make one day because of all the practice I get being 'Mom' to our dog. Lately Duke has been acting up. Just little things like going into trash cans or rolling in mud outside then coming in like it was nothing. Barking at anything and everything and constant whining when I won't throw his ball to him, etc. I find myself getting so angry and immediately wanting to scold him but I try to remember he's just a dog and I need to respect his animal nature. Of course, inevitably he'll also do something adorable like cuddle in a ball for a nap, while letting out a sigh and I melt to pieces calling him my 'little angel'.

John laughs at this and is always telling me Duke doesn't really listen to me because I'm not assertive and baby him. I'm a softie I guess and I suppose I do pay for it when it's just the two of us but I believe he knows he's loved and person or dog that is all that matters to me.

Ugh, our cat is suddenly interested in the trash, too. We've had her for nine years, and she's just starting to dig through it. We actually had to go out and buy a taller trash can with a lid!

ahhhhhhhhhhhh cute picture there of Dukie. Maybe he is still getting use to his "new" home. You are a softie and that is what Duke loves about you !
