Oh, Deer

Today John and I rode our bikes for the first time in almost a year. We took them out on a lovely trail in a state park just a few miles from our home. The scenery was beautiful, the weather perfect and all I could think about was Matt Lauer.
Yep, the good ol' Today show host and the story last March about how he was leisurly riding his bike, just like I was, when out of nowhere a crazed deer jumped out in front of him, causing him to slam on his breaks and go flying. And I kid you not, as I was making my way back up a wooden bridge toward the end of our ride, I saw a huge buck out of the corner of my eye just a few feet from the trail. He and his giant antlers were staring at me and didn't move an inch.
From that point on I peddled as fast as I could until my legs were burning and when I finally met up with John, I told him what I saw. "You said deer were afraid of us. This one stared at me." His response, "Well not the deer in the park. They are probably so used to seeing people."
Does he think this makes me feel better? I liked thinking they kept away from the sounds of humans. Now I'm hard pressed to say if I'll be raring to go the next time John suggests taking the bikes for a spin.

Jackie this is too funny!!! You and those deer! This definitely made me chuckle. That would make sense I guess, the deer in the parks must get use to seeing alot of people. Have you been back there since? :-)
