New Dimension

During our Christmas visit to Arizona, John and my Dad went to see Avatar and my Mom and I went shopping. At the time I didn't have any interest in seeing it, but then I saw it get nominated for a ton of awards, so it peeked my interest and we decided to see the 3D version when we got back. That was last week, and I'm still trying to formulate a firm opinion on it. The thing is, the movie is like nothing I have ever seen before visually. It's pretty neat to watch, especially with some rockin' sunglasses on (gone are those itchy paper 3D glasses). I admire the fact that you didn't feel like you were watching a crazy, over CG amplified movie, but instead it felt seamless.
I just didn't really find the story that impressive or original and these Avatar things are beyond bizarre. I don't understand whey they need long ponytails and long tails. Kidding. It was kind of drawn out in parts and I didn't think the plot dove into some points that I thought would warrant it. I guess I just need more of a story to balance out all the other cool things that were going on. Everyone is different.
I definitely think it's a movie that is worth seeing, though, especially on the big screen.
