I don't know if it's just that I had a hard time relating to Elizabeth Gilbert's experiences or just her in general. Sometimes these self-discovery stories can be a bit nauseating.
The movie had beautiful settings but was waaaaaaaay too long. It clocked in at just over 2.5 hours and with each new place she visited, I kept thinking, we have how many more to go?
Maybe my patience isn't what it used to be, or maybe Julia Roberts grates on my nerves. Either way, save your money and pick this one as a renter...at home, with bathroom breaks, lots of snacks and the pause button in case a nap strikes you.

I have to admit, I really enjoyed the book. That said, I went out the first weekend to see the movie and wasn't impressed at all. So, despite not agreeing with you on the book, I totally agree on the movie! (I even made Daniel see it. I shouldn't have used my "chick flick turn" with that one!)
I felt the same way about the movie, but I did love the scenery. I can;t understand why the book is so popular, most people I know that read it felt the same way you did.
