Guest Of Honor

A week from today my Mom and Grandmother will arrive in PA after making the long drive from AZ. My mother has been gracious enough to move in with John and I for the next couple of months to help me take care of our new baby and all that comes with that. My sweet grandmother was kind enough to join her in the ride and we will get to spend some quality time with her over next weekend before she has to fly back home.

My Mom is giving up a lot to come and be here for us and I can't put into words how appreciative I am of that. While I know being a new mom will be the hardest job I've ever had, having her here to help guide me along will no doubt be a saving grace at times. And did I mention she's a great cook? Certainly doesn't hurt ;)

Before I got pregnant, I often worried how things would be without my family close by. I thought a lot about how much I want my kids to know my entire AZ family, as I have so many fond memories of growing up with them. But part of me does believe that everything happens for a reason and I just have to spend extra time making sure my daughter knows them the way I do, even though we may not live in the same state. It also makes me very grateful for the time we will get to share together, like when my brothers, sister and Dad will be here for Christmas, the first my side has had in our PA home. While it will be a busy time, I think it will be one of our best Christmases yet.
