Baby 101

Over the last week, John and I completed classes through our delivery hospital on what we have dubbed "cramming for baby".
We thought it was great that they offered all these and since we are novices on having and raising babies, we opted to get as much information as we could.
Monday we took a two hour course from a pediatrician on bringing home baby, Wednesday a two hour class on breastfeeding (which included tons of Dads) and yesterday spent literally all day in a child birthing class with about 11 other couples. I must admit to being a little overwhelmed by all the information that was given to us, but do feel more prepared for some of the experiences we will go through when we have our little lady home with us.
I'm not sure that labor is something you can ever be fully ready for, though. I found the relaxing and breathing aspects really helpful as well as knowing what to pack in my overnight bag, comfort positions etc., but still feel slightly on edge about the actual delivery. John has been extremely supportive throughout everything we have learned, but it's hard for him to truly understand what the anticipation of child birth brings. I mean it could happen at any time now (I'm 37 weeks today). How does one wrap their mind around that?
However, every day I make a conscious effort to remove from my mind my normal anxious tendencies, as to not be projecting that onto our baby. This has definitely helped and the knowledge that I can do this and I'm probably as ready as I will ever be.

I'm sure you can never fully be ready for child birth (and that's probably a good thing), but you're a strong little, lady yourself, and I know you'll be just fine.

That does not mean, however, that I want to hear any "stories" after the fact. ; )
